Question: How
can I get windows to stop highlighting new programs that I
have installed?
Answer: One addition to Windows
XP that you can probably live without is the highlighting
of newly added programs in your extended Start menu. When
new software is added to your PC, the new program appears
in a different color on the All Programs list, immediately
drawing your attention to it whenever you access the All Programs
list. To remove the menu highlighting, right-click on the
Start button and choose Properties. On the Start Menu property
sheet, click the Customize button, and then select the Advanced
tab. Deselect the Highlight Newly Installed Programs check
box, and then click OK.
